So I got a bike in a box, delivered with my phone. The box itself was big and imposing, so naturally I enlisted the help of my 14-year-old cousin to assemble it (who, in turn, enlisted the assistance of our 9-year-old cousin). The idea was to get them to fix it while I relaxed and enjoyed sunny Christmas day. Ha! After quickly dissmissing instructions in the booklet as "gibberish" (I have to agree with this - the instructions were appalling) - they steamed ahead sans instruction booklet, relying solely on hunches and "vibes" - the type which boys seem to magically acquire when faced with shiny tools and something to fix.
Needless to say, quiet fustration ensued.
My sister finally took charge by reading the instructions. A couple of clicks on youtube later - and approximately 5 hours after they had earnestly begun, the rag tag team presented me with a fully assembled bike - with the wheel protectors firmly affixed on backwards and no functioning brakes.
I'm still pretty thrilled with it - hopefully my new wheels will encourage me to start exercising now.
